Photo Essay
The subject for my photo essay is the beach- I took these photographs at Bakers Beach in Westport, MA. This place is important to me, because my family goes there almost everyday in summer and it's very important to us. My family and I have grown very comfortable to this beach- it's almost like our second home, so I wanted to portray how beautiful and comforting it is. My pictures capture the narrative of my essay by creating a warm feeling, and brings you back to the beach, by capturing the warm sand, the bright blue sky, the waves, and more. This makes the viewer feel like they're at the beach, and gives them the feeling of the hot sand, the warm weather, and a stress-free feeling. I arranged my photos in an order to drag the viewer's eyes throughout the book, by putting a picture of mainly sand as every other picture, so the book isn't too repetitive. My strongest photo is the first one- of the fence in front of the water. This photo has a very interesting viewpoint, as the bright blue sky seems to rest on top of the fence, as the fence and the top of the water are equal. This photo also has texture in the fence, as the wood panels are in focus, showing how texturized they are.
